Bewdley pensioner died after fall in her caravan - coroner

A BEWDLEY pensioner who was found dead in her caravan after a neighbour raised the alarm died of an accidental injury, a coroner has ruled.

Eileen Sondergaard, 71, of Caravan M32, Hillcroft Caravan Park, Cleobury Road, died on Friday, May 25.

The caravan park’s managers let themselves into Ms Sondergaard’s caravan on Tuesday, May 29, after a neighbour became concerned that she had not seen the retired carer since Tuesday, May 22.

When they entered Ms Sondergaard, who was born in Birmingham and divorced, was discovered dead on the floor. A post mortem showed she had suffered an accidental breaking of bones in her lower leg which had pierced her skin.

Worcestershire coroner Geraint Williams told the inquest in Stourport the post mortem had found no pre-existing medical disease nor medical emergency.

He said Ms Sondergaard had little contact with her family over the past few years.

“She fell at her home and sustained injuries from which she died,” he added. “It was a recent injury and would have caused blood loss.

“An accident caused the injury and the injury caused her death. She died as the result of an accident.”
