Wyre Forest mothers needed to teach breastfeeding
7:00am Saturday 1st September 2012 in News
WYRE Forest mothers are needed by Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust to help new mums learn how to breastfeed.
The initiative hopes to train volunteers to become Best Buddy breastfeeding peer supporters to help women in the local community.
Anthea Griffiths, Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust breastfeeding coordinator, said: “Mums who have had a positive breastfeeding experience, would like to support other mothers to breastfeed and who live in or near Kidderminster or Stourport would make great breastfeeding peer supporters.”
Training will consist of eight workshops on a Wednesday morning, commencing on September 26 at Chestnut Children’s Centre in Kidderminster.
Volunteers will work alongside health visitors, support workers and midwives to give local mums additional support.
