THERE is something creepy going on in Bewdley - a bug hotel.

Children and adults came together to help build the seven-story structure and furnished it with rotten wood, leaves, fir cones, broken clay tiles and pots and hay to fill the gaps, at the Millennium Green.

Following a community consultation in February on future uses for the green, funding was sourced to pay for some of the ideas the community came up with, including the hotel.

Electricity firm Western Power Distribution also gave a donation which covered the cost of raised beds and soil.

Sarah Lange, a member of Bewdley Transition Land Group, said: “it was great fun and we found lots of bugs among the furnishings, which became the first residents.”

She added future plans for the green included a new bench.

“Further funding will be sought in the autumn to plant fruit trees and spring bulbs to bring some food and some colour to the green,” Ms Lange said. ”

Anyone interested in making a donation should email sarahlange@hotmail.co.uk.
