THE rescheduled Wolverley Carnival is due to take place on Saturday following the event being cancelled in July due to heavy rainfall.

Carnival queen Esme Johnson, 13, princess Caelen Gower, 12 and rosebud Charlotte Hudson, 8, will be leading the parade.

The theme for the carnival is the Olympics and money raised will support local organisations and causes.

Chairman of the carnival committee Charles Sherrey said: “Preparations are going very well. We have almost the same amount of floats as in July and we have no reason to believe it will not go ahead.”

Vehicles and floats will gather at Sebright Green and the procession will begin at 12.30pm.

The day’s events will continue at Wolverley Memorial Hall with a kick boxing demonstration, mini soccer display, Zumba dancing, live American wrestling and a Navy Training Corps display.

The arena will also include traditional games, stalls and refreshments.

Wolverley Carnival queen, along with her princess and rosebud were crowned at the annual May Day Fair.
