A STOURPORT school has been recognised as one of Comic Relief’s top 25 fundraising schools of the year.
Stourport High School and VIth Form Centre was officially recognised for its efforts in this year’s Comic Relief campaign.
In total, the school raised £11,000 in the last school year for causes ranging from Help the Heroes to the Samaritans.
Students took part in a variety of charity activities including sponsored silences, bake sales, fancy dress days and competitions.
One fundraising event involved a 12 hour music-athon which required students to contribute to a continual musical performance with no more than a 2 second gap between music.
A team of roadies and an army of supporters ensured that technical hitches and exhaustion didn’t ruin their efforts.
Principal Liz Quinn said: “It’s fantastic to see every single one of our students giving their all to raise money for charity and develop their awareness about vitally important issues that affect people in the UK and overseas.
“They never fail to impress us with the effort and the creativity they put into events like this and it’s superb that this has been recognised so formally by Comic Relief.”
