A NEW nursery will be opening in Kidderminster creating 34 jobs as part of a £700,000 refurbishment by Co-operative Childcare.

The former Edward Parry Centre in Coventry Street is being converted into the nursery which will have 117 places for children once open in November.

The Co-operative Childcare, which is part of The Midcounties Co-operative, currently runs 47 nurseries with the Kidderminster nursery being its first in Worcestershire.

The revamped building is being completely remodelled to provide bigger rooms and will have newly fitted kitchen and bathroom facilities.

There will be large indoor learning and play areas as well as two gardens.

Group Manager Mike Abbott said: “We are excited about our Kidderminster nursery as we wish to serve the local community. We already have a strong membership base here and a significant trading presence through our food stores, post offices, pharmacy, travel and funeral businesses.

“Our investment in this site demonstrates our commitment to meet the needs of local families for early years care and learning delivered by a trusted provider.”

The Kidderminster development is a joint scheme between Midcounties and Camlock Properties Ltd.
