THE newest member of The Shuttle’s editorial team is making the news herself this week.
Becky Carr, who joined the newspaper in June, has been named Student of the Year on the 2011-12 journalism course at City of Wolverhampton College.
Becky, 23, topped the class with some impressive work on the year-long course which earned her qualifications in media law, news reporting, public affairs, production journalism and court reporting.
She also achieved 100 per cent accuracy in her 100 words per minute shorthand exam.
The former Wolverhampton Girls’ High School student went to Leeds University where she gained a 2.1 history degree before returning to Wolverhampton to begin her journalism studies.
Shuttle editor Clive Joyce said: “When Becky came for her interview, she demonstrated that she already fully understood the role of a reporter on a local weekly newspaper and all the responsibilities and challenges that go with it.
“She passed all her college exams with flying colours and has now made an impressive start to her career in the industry. I am confident she has a bright future.”
