LUCKY the Lion is encouraging children at Wyre Forest schools to look after their teeth as part of a health initiative by The Midcounties Co-operative.

The 6ft cuddly character has visited six schools, including Wilden All Saints Primary School, in Stourport to talk to year two and three children.

The pupils learned about the importance of brushing their teeth regularly and visiting the dentist.

Each child received an information pack which included a toothbrush, toothpaste and a wooden toothbrush holder.

The youngsters decorated the holder which has a two minute timer so they know how long to brush their teeth.

Vicky Powell, community co-ordinator for Midcounties, said: “We have worked with health care professionals to develop a lesson which teaches children in a fun and effective way.”

Lucky the Lion and the team will visit St Wulstan’s Catholic Primary School, in Stourport, on Tuesday.
