Worcesterhire woman of the year open for nominations

THE Worcestershire Women of the Year 2013 Awards are open for nominations.
The awards, which raise funds for St Richard’s Hospice in Worcester, were launched at a lunch at the home of Worcester Rugby Club, Sixways.
Ninety-three women, and a few men, attended the lunch, who enjoyed an inspirational talk by Miranda Ballard, founder of the Muddy Boots beefburger company, based in Martley.
The awards have been running for more than 20 years and are a major fundraiser for the hospice.
The three categories are the achievement award, voluntary award and business award.
St Mary’s school in Worcester sponsor the achievement award which is given to a woman who through her dedication and determination is able to demonstrate that against all odds she has done something incredible, inspirational or is simply the best at what she does.
The voluntary award, sponsored by Peplow Jewellers, is for a woman who has made a significant contribution to the life of the Worcestershire community by giving her time and effort freely.
A woman who has made a significant contribution to the success of her own, or her employer’s business will receive the business award sponsored by Harrison Clark.
Chairman of the awards, Andrea Palmer, said: “There are so many women living and working in the county who deserve to be nominated for one of these prestigious awards, for business, voluntary work, and for achievement.
“We have some very special women in Worcestershire who work extremely hard in the work force or in their communities.”
Nominees should live or work in the county of Worcestershire and the closing date is March 1, 2013.
