THE Bramble Appeal has been given another cash boost, pushing it closer to its target.

Two donations totalling almost £500 has been given to the appeal to help restore the historic canal boat, which is based in Stourport Basins.

Father and son Mark and Joshua Humphries raised £227 for Bramble when they completed a 16-mile sponsored walk, organised by Bewdley and Stourport Rotary Club. from Bewdley to Worcester.

Mark said: “We hadn’t realised we had managed to collect so much in sponsorship as it all seemed like bits and pieces but it all adds up.

“The walk was great fun with a good sense of camaraderie and I would recommend the walk as a challenge for anyone.”

Independent Community and Health Concern councillor Dixon Sheppard also donated £250 from his Community Leadership Fund.

He said: “I am fully supportive of the work of Stourport Forward in renovating Bramble to her former glory, as she will be a valuable tourist attraction in the Basins as well as an educational resource for children.”

Sarah Lange, manager of Stourport Forward, which owns the boat, added: “This has been an exciting week, with the two big donations, and we are extremely grateful to both.

“We are hoping that the Women in Business Ladies evening being held tonight at Church House, Areley Kings will also be a great fund-raiser.”

Tonight’s event, organised by Thursfield Solicitors, will run from 5.30pm until 7.30pm.
