A SECOND Indian eatery has found the right recipe to help the Bramble Appeal.

Spennells Tandoori takeaway in Warbler Place, Kidderminster, is donating half of all profits, from all orders tomorrow.

Customers who quote the Bramble Appeal when calling on the night will receive 25 per cent off their food.

Chef and manager Tazul Islam was inspired to donate to the restoration of Bramble, a 1934 canal boat, after his cousin, Mokbul Hussain of Cafe Masala, in Mill Street joined our appeal.

Mr Islam, who has run the family business for 12 years, said: “It’s important that everybody helps out to preserve the history of the waterways.

“We have an excellent reputation for great food. I would like to invite everybody to try our food and support the Bramble Appeal.”

The boat, moored at Stourport Canal Basins, is sailing close to the half way mark for the money she needs to be returned to her former glory.

The Shuttle wants to raise £7,000 to pay for a new prop shaft, mechanical and electrical work, new covers and fenders, a lick of paint and historic and replica items to furnish Bramble’s living quarters as they would have been in times past.

Pauline Annis, chairman of Stourport Forward, which owns Bramble, said: “We are extremely grateful to Tazum Islam of Spennells Tandoori for his very kind offer of support.

“We hope that people will enjoy their takeaway meals on Monday, April 30, even more than usual, in the knowledge that they are also helping to restore Bramble to her original condition as a historic working canal.

Once restored, she will help people to learn about what it was like to live and work on the canals in times past.”
