WALKERS can take part in a sponsored stroll to raise cash for the Bramble Appeal.

Members of Bewdley and Stourport Rotary clubs are organising the Severn Way Walk – a sponsored 225-mile walk which covers the Severn Way.

People can jump on board the appeal by joining sections of the walk and donating their sponsorship money towards the restoration of the canal boat.

The walk will pass from Bewdley to Worcester on Saturday, September 15 and people can walk 3.25, 6.25, 9.5, 12.75 or 16 miles on the day.

Konrad Nofer, of Bewdley Rotary Club, said: “We are delighted to be working with Stourport Rotary Club to run the Severn Way Walk again and are so pleased that as well as helping Rotary charities we have also provided a way for local people to walk for their own preferred cause, such as the restoration of the working canal boat Bramble.”

“Through the Severn Way Walk, we hope to provide a way to encourage more local people to serve their local community by walking to raise funds for their favourite local cause, such as the Bramble Appeal.”

Pauline Annis, chairman of Stourport Forward, added: “We are extremely grateful to Bewdley and Stourport Rotary Clubs for providing the Severn Way Walk and enabling local people to support their own local projects, such as the Bramble Appeal.

“We hope that local people will join the Severn Way Walk, gain sponsors and help us to raise the remaining funds required to restore Bramble to her original state as a historic working canal boat.”
