BRAMBLE can safely make a splash once restored after receiving boat safety examination checks.

Chris Ward, of firm Boat Safety Examinations, provided a boat safety certificate examination free for the historic canal boat.

The 1934 vessel is undergoing a restoration programme, thanks to the funds donated by Wyre Forest residents in the Bramble Appeal.

The Boat Safety Scheme (BSS) was established in 1997 to promote safety on the Inland waterways for boats, their installations and components.

Mr Ward said: “When I heard about the project to restore Bramble I thought that I could help by ensuring that Bramble met the required standards and issuing a certificate of compliance”.

Pauline Annis, chairman of Stourport Forward, which owns the historic canal boat, said: “We are extremely grateful to Chris for conducting the boat safety examination checks, advising on how to comply with requirements and for issuing the certificate of compliance free of charge once all the requirements had been met.

“This has been another great boost to the Bramble Appeal and it is great to know that we have the support of local businesses, such as Boat Safety Examinations.

Every donation, whether financial or in kind, helps us to take another step towards the restoration of Bramble.”
