THE Bramble Appeal has been given another push forward following a workshop about the restoration of Stourport Canal Basins.

Pauline Annis, chairman of Stourport Forward, which owns Bramble, has donated the £70 she received for leading the event for the Central Region Arts Group of Open University Tutors to the restoration of the historic canal boat.

An idea that emerged from the day was that Stourport should have a blue plaque scheme for significant buildings, which the town’s civic society will now look into.

Ms Annis said: “We have been so encouraged by the generosity of local people to the Bramble Appeal so far that this seemed a great opportunity to make my own contribution to the appeal.

“The restoration of Bramble will enable a wider cross-section of people, particularly children, to learn about and appreciate the rich history of Stourport Canal Basins.”

Liz Sheerin, manager of Stourport Forward, added: “We are extremely grateful to Pauline for her very generous donation and for all that she does for Stourport Forward, every week, throughout the year.

“I hope that local people will follow Pauline’s example and give what they can to help us to restore Bramble to her former glory. Every contribution helps to take us nearer to our goal.”
