A GENEROUS Wyre Forest councillor has climbed aboard the Bramble Appeal.

Independent Community and Health Concern member Cliff Brewer has donated £300 from his Wyre Forest District Council leadership fund towards the restoration of the historic canal boat.

Mr Brewer, who is also a Stourport town councillor, met Stourport Forward volunteer Jenny Shaw, who showed him some of the resources for an education project on the boat.

The box of items bring to life the story of George, a 12-yearold boy, who had been born in Stourport when it was a small village.

Mr Brewer said: “The box was full of fascinating items and is an innovative way to teach children.”

Ms Shaw added: “The schools project will be greatly enhanced once Bramble has been restored. It will allow us to really show children what life was like on the boats.”

Sarah Lange, manager of Stourport Forward which owns Bramble, said: “The resources that the Canal and River Trust supplied and the training they gave the volunteers really make this project great. I am looking forward to Bramble being fully renovated so we can really promote this project to schools.

“Donations like Mr Brewer’s are really making the full restoration a reality. Fingers crossed, we can have an extended programme of activities to offer schools next spring.”.
