IN this months column I want to address e-safety which is a priority for the force at the moment and we need your help to make a difference.

With the increasing use of the internet by our children, criminals are constantly finding new ways to expose them to real danger.

That’s why we are launching a NEW e-safety bulletin service; helping to make it easy for busy parents to keep up to date with the latest e-safety information from a trusted source. Information that is easy to understand, easy to receive and easy to action.

This initiative will provide timely safety updates via email. All you have to do is visit westmerciabulletin.org.uk to sign up – it only takes a minute and it’s free.

We are actively trying to generate as much awareness as possible for this service and would ask those of you who are parents and carers to take the lead by signing up now.

We also urge you to pass this message on to as many people you can think of who might benefit from it.

Not only will you benefit from the very latest e-safety information, you will also receive other useful crime prevention advice to help you and your families stay safe.

On signing up, you will be able to download a handy e-safety guide which you can print and share with your children, family and friends.

We are deliberately timing this campaign to coincide with start of the summer holidays when children will be away from school and looking for things to do.

Many children spend a lot of time on computers and we want them to be able to enjoy this time safely.
