MIDLANDS housebuilder, Crest Nicholson, has helped unwrap a day out for more than 1,000 children by sponsoring the Variety Club’s 2008 Christmas event.
Taking place today, at Gulliver’s Land in Milton Keynes, the event will see the children, aged between three and 10, enjoy an action-packed, fun day out.
Fairground rides, a Christmas show and a meeting with Santa Claus himself will be the order of the day.
Resident characters, Gully and Gilly Mouse, will beon hand and there will be fun rides such as the log flume, the Rocky Mountain Train and the Jungle River Ride.
Adding to the fun is a pantomime and all the children will receive lunch and a Christmas gift.
Crest Nicholson, in a longstanding relationship with the children’s charity, has, so far, raised £180,000.
The £10,000 funds this time round were raised by members of the Crest Nicholson team, led by Tom Dwyer, who completed a climb of the Jbel Toubkal mountain peak in Southwestern Morrocco.
The Variety Club is a charity that improves the lives of sick, disabled and disadvantaged children across the UK.
Norman Kaphan, Variety Club chief barker, said: “We are absolutely thrilled with the support from Crest Nicholson. The Variety Club relies heavily on sponsorship and anticipates this to be a wonderful, exciting and memorable day for the thousands of children attending.
“Crest Nicholson have been on board helping us since 2005 and their money has been raised in all manner of ways, such as holding successful fund-raising events, running the London Marathon, cycle rides from London to Paris and dress down days in the offices.
“In total, they have sponsored nine Sunshine Coaches, which has allowed many children from schools and organisations in the UK to have had the freedom and independence to explore their local areas, which is fantastic.”
