A BROMSGROVE company has been given a £1.2m boost.

Commercial lighting specialist Lightsense UK, based in Stoke Prior, is the latest company to benefit from a Finance Birmingham funding boost to help with its expansion plans.

The investment will allow the business to double staffing numbers from 12 to 24 and enable it to meet current demand from a number of blue-chip customers.

Formed in 2012, Lightsense makes LED and induction lighting systems favoured by a growing number of green-thinking businesses.

Lightsense is one of the first companies to take advantage of Finance Birmingham's £56m Mezzanine Fund, the largest individual growth capital fund for SMEs in the West Midlands.

Ian Thomas, managing director, said: “In the space of two years, we have gone from a start-up business to a major player in the commercial lighting industry, creating effective solutions for our clients in a financially-pressured, environmentally-conscious market place. These are exciting times."
