AN apprentice from Redditch has been shortlisted for a prestigious award.

Dan Bristow is in the running for the Outstanding Performance by a First Year Apprentice Award in the EEF/Aldermore Future Manufacturing Awards.

The 22-year-old is a first year apprentice at Jaguar Land Rover.

He was shortlisted along with five other first year apprentices after impressing judges with his dedication and determination to pursue a career in manufacturing.

Mr Bristow said: “I am delighted to be shortlisted for this award. I’ve learned so much during my apprenticeship and this is the icing on the cake.

"I’m looking forward to finding out the result, but I already feel like a winner for getting this far.

“The recognition means a lot to me, but more importantly I’m on a career path that I enjoy and where my achievements are being valued."

He added: "If I can do this then others can too, and I hope it makes other young people think seriously about becoming an apprentice too.”

He will find out if he has won the regional title at a ceremony in February next year.

If successful, he will then go on to compete with other finalists from across the UK for the national title. This will be announced at an awards gala dinner in London in April next year.
