TWO local apprentices have joined a fast-growing Worcestershire accountancy firm.

Ormerod Rutter Chartered Accountants, who have offices in Droitwich Spa and Bromsgrove, have recruited seven young people, the third group to join the training scheme since it was devised in 2012.

The new faces include Matthew Wheatcroft from Stourport and graduate trainee Daniel Poxon from Kidderminster.

Nicky Ormerod, a partner at the firm, said: “We’re delighted that our continued success over the past 12 months has enabled us to create these opportunities and we have high hopes for our new recruits.”

During the first 12 months, the apprentices will each spend three months in the Ormerod Rutter’s tax, limited company, small business and audit departments working towards their Association of Accounting Technicians qualification. For the following two years, they will be allocated to a set department.

If they are successful, they can then progress to the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants qualification, which takes four years to complete.
