A MIDLANDS law firm is set to smash the £8m mark for the first time in its history after enjoying significant growth across a number of its specialist divisions.

QualitySolicitors Talbots, which boasts seven offices across the region, has bucked a flat property sector by posting a 20 per cent rise in commercial and residential matters in the last year, dealing with up to 700 cases per month.

This puts the firm in the top 20 conveyancing firms in the UK, with Land Registry data placing it in 13th position.

There were equally impressive figures across Family Trusts, Estates and the recently expanded Business Services team.

The results were announced at QualitySolicitors Talbots’ Business and Property Conference, which saw Justin Urquhart Stewart provide over 150 delegates with an entertaining insight into economic trends.

Martyn Morgan, Director at QualitySolicitors Talbots said: “It has been a very good year for the business and we are delighted to be on course to pass £8m in fees in 2015, recruiting 20 new lawyers and support staff in the process.

“We’ve seen steady growth across all our specialist teams, but property has definitely been the biggest success…especially considering the market has remained relatively flat.”

He added: “I believe our success stems from our ability to offer significant resource and knowledge, whilst maintaining the personal level of service that makes the client feel they are our main focus.

“We do things a little differently to other firms. For instance, we open Saturday mornings for added flexibility, have fixed price products and also offer an initial first advice session so individuals or companies can telephone/have a face-to-face meeting without the fear of the clock ticking.

“One of the issues we do have is finding the right property people, as a lot of conveyancing specialists left the sector and retrained during the recession. We are already looking at ways to overcome this problem, with one option being to explore development programme to ‘grow our own’.

The QualitySolicitors Talbots ‘Business and Property Conference’ is designed to provide an update on the latest legal and economic developments in the sector.

It was the most popular yet, with 150 delegates enjoying keynote speeches from Justin Urquhart Stewart (Head of Seven Investment Management), Peter Bolton King (Director of RICS) and Lorna Sheldon, a personal communication trainer.

There were also three innovation showcases from MoneyPenney, DRP Group and Metro Bank – the latter became the first new bank to open on the high street in 150 years when it was formed in 2010.

Martyn said: “Justin never disappoints with his upbeat style and our other speakers provided fantastic insights into property market trends and how to effectively get your message across. We’ve now got to build on this for next year’s event.”

QualitySolicitors Talbots has been in the West Midlands since 1828 and currently offers legal services from offices in Codsall, Dudley, Halesowen, Kidderminster, Stourbridge, Stourport and Wolverhampton.

The firm offers employment, property, personal legal advice and access to a business services team that covers corporate transactions, dispute and licensing law.

In addition to providing an industry update, the Conference also raised more than £2000 for the ‘Chris Westwood Charity for Children with Physical Disabilities.’
