A special event is taking place at the Commandery between Saturday, August 31 until Monday, September 2 (10am-5pm) followed by the annual Drumhead Ceremony on Tuesday, September 3 from 6pm.

The weekend is dedicated to The Battle of Worcester, a significant day in 17th century English Civil War history with talks, drills, a living history camp, displays, activities and the Drumhead ceremony will be in Fort Royal Park. Displays will be presented by The Battle of Worcester Society and Discover History.

The Commandery, on Sidbury in Worcester city centre, is one of Worcester's most historic buildings, dating mostly from the 15th century.

The structure has been extended and adapted over the centuries as parts were rebuilt to suit the style and needs of each period. This ensures the Commandery continues to be a source of fascination to visitors.

The museum also offers the opportunity to get involved in interesting and fun activities in a building that has itself 'lived' through major historical events such as the English Civil War and the Industrial Revolution.

To take part in the Drumhead Ceremony, please meet at The Commandery at 6pm on the anniversary of the Battle, on Tuesday, September 3 for the walk to the top of Fort Royal Hill for the commemoration ceremony and musket firing. All are welcome and the event is free.

There are admission charges for The Commandery £5.50 (Adults), £4.25 (concessions), £2.50 (children). Family tickets (admits 2 adults and up to 3 children) cost £13, and season tickets allowing admission for a full year cost £6 plus the normal admission charge.

Worcester city residents are entitled to free admission until March 31, 2014. Please bring a copy of your Council Tax bill/ Exemption Certificate as proof of residency to obtain your free Commandery Card.
