MARK Appleton from Trimpley visited Kemp Hospice to meet staff and patients and to hand over the sponsorship money he raised by running in the London Marathon.
He completed the event in just over four hours and raised £1,000.
He said: "I very much wanted to raise money for a charity that was local and that directly benefits local people, and my first thought was Kemp Hospice.
"I know how much good work they do and I was really pleased to be able to support them."
He met nurse Sally Oxley, herself a keen runner who has recently completed both the Great North Run and the Great South Run.
She thanked him for his donation and said: "It's amazing how much people will do to support the work of the hospice.
"A marathon is such a huge undertaking and we are so grateful to Mark for such a fantastic effort."
