KEMP Hospice is hoping the magic of moonlight cascading through the Wyre Forest will attract a host of walkers for a unique event this summer.

The hospice is inviting women to get together with their friends for a midnight walk through the forest on midsummer's night.

It is hoped the new event will raise a substantial amount for the organisation which provides specialist care for Wyre Forest people with life-limiting diseases , and their families.

The route on Saturday, June 21 will take in five miles of forestry paths through enchanted woodland.

Beth Jackson, hospice fundraiser, said: "This walk offers something special for women in Wyre Forest. Women can walk to remember a loved one, or join together with friends to enjoy a night out to support Kemp.

"Whatever the reason for taking part it promises to be a night to remember".

Hospice organisers believe the walk has the potential to become one of the major events on its fund-raising calendar.

Those taking part will set off at the stroke of midnight from the Visitor Centre at Callow Hill.

Registration costs £10 and includes a T-shirt and bottle of water at the start.

Those taking part must also commit to raising sponsorship for Kemp and the three walkers raising the most will each receive an i-pod shuffle.

Places are limited so walkers are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible for a rare opportunity to sample the forest.

The organisers also looking for men to act as marshals on the night and further details can be obtained on 01562 861217 or email beth.jackson@kemphospice.org.uk
