KEMP Hospice's magical moonlight walk will be a night to remember for six members of a Kidderminster family as they are taking part in memory of two of their loved ones.

The women's sponsored walk which starts at midnight on Saturday, June 21 has inspired Gail Carey, Caroline Watkiss, Jenny Cousins, and Dawn Goodard to walk to remember their mother Betty Thompson, and their sister Gill who both passed away having lived with cancer in recent years.

They will be joined by Gail and Jenny's daughters, Eve, 12, and Sian, 16, and will all be raising funds for the hospice as a thank-you to Kemp's clinical team, and nursing staff based at the Kidderminster hospice who offered support to both women during their illnesses.

Gail said: "Both mum and Gill would come home after visiting Kemp feeling refreshed, full of life and lifted as if a weight had been taken from their shoulders."

The sisters are hoping that other women will join them by registering for the midnight moonlight walk which starts at the Forestry Commission's Visitor Centre at Callow Hill, and takes in five miles of the Wyre Forest.

They are also raising funds in other ways over the coming weeks. Carol and Jenny are doing a car boot sale on Saturday, May 31 at Far Forest and Gail will be holding a coffee morning next month.

Beth Jackson, hospice fundraiser, said: "We are delighted that so many women are signing up to take part in this magical event.

"We are lucky to have such a beautiful location for our walk and we are really grateful to the Forestry Commission for their support."
