Posted by Graham Cooke, Kidderminster: I would like to see far more prominence given to the river Stour and the Staffordshire and Worcestershire canal.

There are some attractive stretches of river that we have failed to capitalise on. Instead of making this natural water feature an integral part of the design of the town we have hidden it behind a bus station and the rear of retail stores and supermarkets.

I recall some of the early artist's impressions' of Weavers Wharf which included prominent features such as terraces where shoppers could enjoy a drink and a meal overlooking a nice stretch of the river.

Neglected' areas are at the rear of the college/library buildings. Seating areas on the riverbank would be appropriate. Also the stretch alongside Tesco leading up to the fire station could be used more effectively.

I would also like to see some thought given to the Sainsbury island bottleneck at Crossley Park. Would it be feasible to open a further access route via Clensmore to alleviate the major problems with traffic build-up that occur at peak times.

Finally, I would like to see a far more joined up' approach to the three major areas of the town ( town centre/Weavers Wharf/Crossley Park).

How about a free shuttle bus facility between the three?

REGARDING Kidderminster's image, one key element which I feel needs urgently addressing is that of one of the main arterial roads leading into the town.

While the approaches from most other directions into the town are generally attractive (except the horrendous silos on the Stourport Road) and give visitors a positive first impression' of the town, the busiest route has been sadly neglected.

The A449 from the south is now an embarrassment. What is a visitor's first sight of Kidderminster? Ugly Warehouse City on the Hoo Farm Industrial Estate and as soon as they have managed to pass that eyesore they drive down to the Hoobrook Island where many would think they have mistakenly entered the safari park.

Is this the Savanna grassland area of the park? The grass and weeds are now nearing 4ft tall in places. Perhaps some wild creature is lurking within, ready to pounce on the motorists who sit waiting patiently in the traffic jams.

No - it's the grass verges which have been left uncut for the best part of nine months. A total abdication of responsibility and lack of interest and care on the part of the council.

This is a blight on the town's image and needs sorting out quickly - maybe with a combine harvester as it's so long it will need baling!

I JUST cannot understand the hate that is directed at Crown House in Kidderminster - I believe it is an icon.

Where else can you find a building like it?

At least it is being used - not like that white elephant, the Piano Building.
