College urges families to consider vocational learning
Karina Varley, Matt Prescott and Matt Perry are all heading towards successful careers thanks to Kidderminster College
Karina Varley, Matt Prescott and Matt Perry are all heading towards successful careers thanks to Kidderminster College

Kidderminster College is opening its doors to potential students and their families to discover where a vocational route of further education would take them. With so many options available to post-16 learners the College is encouraging students to think about their future careers and take a more vocational route of study.

With hundreds of courses from Electrotechnical Installation to Beauty Therapy to Acting and Business Administration on offer the career routes offered by the college are endless. Matt Perry is currently studying a diploma in Health and Fitness in a bid to become a personal trainer: Sport is not only something I love but a hobby "My ambition is to see the world and become a personal trainer on a cruise ship. I chose to study at Kidderminster College because there were more qualifications and courses to choose from than other colleges."

Karina Varley is retraining as a Holistic Therapist and is currently in her first year of Level 3 Certificate in Holistic Therapy, she hopes to have a career working in a Health Spa: "Having originally studied Art and Design I decided that I wanted to do something to help people. I am enjoying the course immensely, Kidderminster College has a great reputation for its Holistic Therapy course and I would thoroughly recommend it!"

Matt Prescott currently works as an Electrician and is in his second year of a work-based learning programme in Electrical Installation. "Kidderminster College is the only college in the area to offer this course, it is really flexible and is certainly helping my career options."

To enable students to find out more, a special opening evening will be held on Thursday 7th of February between 6pm - 8pm at Kidderminster College. Students will be able to find out more about all the courses the college has on offer, talk to tutors, watch demonstrations and view the facilities. The college's Advice and Guidance team will also be on hand to chat to parents about their child's post-16 education choices.

For more information on the open evening and to find out more about the courses available at Kidderminster College, please visit the college's website at www.kidderminster.ac.uk or call student services on 01562 512003.
