Knockout winners to meet darts legends

WYRE Forest pubs are the venues for a series of knockout darts tournaments where the chance to play four famous names from the sport is at stake - and Back on Track benefits too.

A special event will pit Wyre Forest's best against darts legends Eric Bristow, John Lowe, Keith Deller and Cliff Lazarenko.

The price of entry for every competition building up to this big night will go towards the appeal, with all three major Wyre Forest leagues - Kidderminster, Stourport and Bewdley - taking part.

John Biles, secretary of the Kidderminster league, said: "I am very happy with the response and there is a good nucleus of talented players in Kidderminster."

He added that eight Kidderminster pubs were taking part so far, while the area final was due to take place on Sunday, May 11, at the town's HETA Working Mens Club in Truro Drive.

The Legends of Darts event takes place on Saturday, May 24 at the Wyre Forest Glades Leisure Centre in Kidderminster.

Matt Sheehan, event promoter, said a shirt signed by all the Premier League darts players, including Phil "The Power" Taylor and current world champion John Part, would be auctioned to raise money for the appeal.

For more information about the tournaments across Wyre Forest, contact Mr Biles for Kidderminster on 07821 353480, Mr Bourne for Stourport on 079145 87261 or Mr Walsh for Bewdley on 07976 383516.
