I FEEL I must write to point out the really efficient service I received at the Kidderminster minor injuries unit on Wednesday, April 9.
On the previous afternoon I dropped a heavy block on my foot and although this really hurt at the time and gradually bruised during the evening, I was not aware until 3am on Wednesday that I had done more damage than I realised.
My toe had swollen and gone completely black and so I went to the minor injuries unit about 9.10am.
After about 15 minutes I was seen by one of the very pleasant nurses or sisters on the unit who arranged for me to have an X-ray. Going straight to the imaging department I waited again about 15 minutes before the X-ray was taken.
Then it was back down to minor injuries where I was informed the toe was broken. It was strapped heavily and I was on my way home before 10.30am.
The staff were extremely kind and efficient and I sincerely hope that we can keep such an efficient unit at our local hospital.
I am sure the majority of the day would have been taken up had I had to travel to Worcestershire Royal Hospital with such a problem.
