Asbestos danger is a timebomb
"UNEXPLODED bomb" would have been a more realistic heading for two stories this week. Asbestos fear'(Page 8) and Concerns over dangerous pile' (Page 9) do not address the seriousness of these two stories, especially the second.
The reality of the dangers of asbestos should be front page news. If an unexploded bomb was sitting in the centre of Stourport, the area would be evacuated.
However small the contact with asbestos, it really is a time bomb which will go off some 30-50 years later.
My husband has just died of mesothelioma from contact with asbestos cladding in an underground car park.
I can assure you this is the most devastating and cruel cancer which will certainly kill.
Someone should feel the responsibility to make the public aware. The Government believe the problem will eliminate itself eventually - these stories prove it will take a very long time.
