Cut cinema out of plans
I NOTICE that a placard has appeared adjacent to the old law courts on the traffic island bottom of Comberton Hill, Kidderminster, proclaiming the forthcoming development of leisure facilities including a new cinema.
Having collectively failed to get a cinema for Kidderminster in the past, our local politicians seem determined to carry on ignoring public opinion, expressed in these pages, that we already have a cinema in town. There is no room for another one and the net result will mean one will have to close.
They had a chance to create one in Weavers Wharf, but because it obscurely resembles a piano, when viewed from a passing jet or hot air balloon, it had to be listed, restricting its use.
If it wasn't for the foresight of local business, we would not even have the one we have now.
The development in Worcester Street is needed but not with the inclusion of a cinema.

There already is a cinema built at Weavers Wharf. It became T. J. Maxx and a gym (unit 11) after no cinema operators were interested.
