WORCESTERSHIRE County Council will be celebrating women in business at a special event next week, with 80s punk pop princess, Toyah Willcox, playing a part.

The third annual Worcestershire's Enterprising Woman conference takes place on Wednesday, November 14, as part of National Enterprise Week. The event is organised by the county council's economic development team, along with local colleges, banks, Women in Rural Enterprise and other public and private sector partners.

Workshops on the day include discussing green issues for business, legal affairs and use of blogs on the internet. It runs from 9am until 3pm.

The conferences were originally held to allow women in business the chance to network, share ideas and take on factors that would help them plan their development.

This year's takes place at Worcester Racecourse and Toyah will be there as a successful local businesswoman who is focussed on green issues.

Margaret Gray, principal economic development officer, said: "Local women are involved in numerous successful enterprises in the county. This conference is the opportunity for them to meet and share ideas.

"It is also a forum to inform decision-makers of the needs of local businesses, so that as much as possible can be done to aid the economic development of Worcestershire's companies.

"Toyah's presence isn't a stunt. She's continued to be a successful Worcestershire businesswoman who feels a responsibility to look after the environment at the same time, showing the two can be compatible."

Limited places are still available and anyone interested should contact Rosemary Willmore, on 01905 766723. The cost of attendance includes lunch and refreshments.
