CYCLING CLUB - There are two rides this Sunday. The A ride starts at 9am and explores the Stratford-on-Avon Canal. The B ride starts at 9am and is car assisted to Evesham for the Blossom trail. Both rides leave from The Green, Blakebrook, opposite the hospital. All cyclists will be welcome and should bring a packed lunch.

MILTON HALL BAPTIST CHURCH - Residents are welcome to attend Sunday services at the church, in Lorne Street.
Both the morning service at 11am and evening service at 6.30pm will be led by Rev B G Rose. People are welcome to stay for a free cuppa and a chat after the morning service.
Other activities during the school term at the Church include Boys Brigade on a Monday at 6pm, Little Stars (mums and tots) on a Tuesday between 10am and noon and Girls Brigade on Thursday at 6pm.

SOROPTIMISTS - President Linda Halliwell welcomed speaker Stephanie Peacock to a recent club meeting.
Stephanie, is a youth representative on the National Executive Council of the Labour Party, has been a committed member since the age of 17. She was brought up in Halesowen and is attending the University of London studying for a degree in history.
Stephanie also works for Sylvia Heal MP. She described her experiences and reactions to a recent visit to the USA where she observed the Primaries in Kansas and Missouri. A question and answer session with members followed.
Members in the Midland Arden Region area of Soroptimist International, which has 13 clubs, held a public speaking contest for state school pupils. Kidderminster club's candidate Peter Smith, a pupil at King Charles I School, gave a four minute presentation on "No great genius has been without some madness". However, it was not Kidderminster's turn to win the trophy.

JUBILEE (ELIM CHURCH), HOO ROAD - Fellowship meetings are held on Sunday at 10.30am and Wednesday at 7.45pm. Jubilee Kids clubs meet at Sutton Park and Franche Primary Schools on Wednesdays at 5.30pm.

CLASSICAL MUSIC SOCIETY - In a change from the advertised programme, Terry Wilkinson presented I'll string along with you' on March 28.
Mr Wilkinson introduced many examples of string recordings, including orchestras and solo instruments. The audience heard Cesar Franck's violin concerto played on a double bass, and Elgar's cello concerto played on a viola, while the cello was featured in Bachiana's Brasileiras by Villa-Lobos, accompanying Marnie Nixon. Stephanie Grappelli and Django Reinhardt were heard, as well as Mozart fugue and adalgo. The first half ended with Bach's third Brandenburg Concerto, conducted by Sir Adrian Boult on a 1973 recording.
The second half comprised Mendelssohn's octet opus 20, written when he was 16, then the National Youth Orchestra featured, playing Elgar's Introduction and Allegro for Strings. The programme ended on a light note with Dinah, played by Joe Venuti and Eddie Lang.
Tomorrow, society vice-president, Lyndon Jenkins will present a programme of words and recorded music entitled The Musical Life of LJ'. Mr Jenkins is a well-known writer, lecturer and broadcaster on music, and is special projects manager at Symphony Hall, Birmingham where he advises on programming and interviews many of the world-famous artistes who appear there.
This will be held at Holy Innocents community centre, Kidderminster, starting at 7/30pm, and visitors will be most welcome.

FRANCHE WI - At the April meeting, Dentith and Price entertained members in the music hall style.
The meeting on May 6 will include the resolutions, a beetle drive and raffle. All are welcome at St Barnabas Community Hall at 7.30pm.
