FIELD CLUB - The 80th birthday lunch will be held at Bodenham Arboretum on Tuesday at 12.30pm. Mayor Mike Shellie is the special guest. The cake will be cut by Mrs Heather Hobbs, vice president, who has 40 continuous years as a member and officer.

The club was formed in 1928 "for persons interested in archaeology, geology and history" and is one of the oldest clubs in Kidderminster.

WEST MIDLAND BIRD CLUB - At the March indoor meeting, speaker Mr Brian Draper's subject was the River Avon. The talk followed the AGM during which the committee was re-elected en-bloc. On a cold morning at World's End above Llangollen, crossbills feeding young, a male hen harrier displaying, black grouse foraging on the hillside and wheatear amongst the grass were a few of the sightings on the late March field trip.

At the last indoor meeting of the eason, professional wildlife photographer, Mr Mike Wilkes, will be presenting an illustrated talk entitled birds of the islands of Southern Britain' at St. Oswald's Church Centre, Broadwaters on Wednesday at 7.30pm. Non-members welcome. A nominal admission fee includes refreshments.

The Anglian Water Visitor Centre, Rutland Water Nature Reserve, is the meeting point at 10am for the field trip on Sunday, April 27. For details, contact 01562 829078.

CYCLING CLUB - There are two rides this Sunday. The A ride starts at 9am and goes over the Malvern Hills. The B ride starts at 9.30am and visits Burford Gardens near Tenbury. Both rides leave from The Green, Blakebrook, opposite the hospital. All cyclists will be welcome and should bring a packed lunch.

On Tuesday evening there is a digital slide show winding up last seasons club events, held at New Meeting House, Church Street. Doors open at 7.30pm. Trinity Methodist Church, Churchfields, Kidderminster at 10.30am with Holy Communion, led by Rev. Mary Austin, and at 6.30 pm, led by Rev. Linda Catlow. There is an informal lunchtime service at Trinity every Thursday at 12.30pm.

The service at Broadwaters Methodist Church is at 10.30am, led by Ken Mothersdale. Cookley Methodist Church (worshipping at St. Peter's Church) at 11am, led by Barbara Lee. Foley Park Methodist Church at 10.30am, led by Sue Stinton, and at 6.30pm, with Holy Communion, led by Rev Pam Garrud.

MILTON HALL BAPTIST CHURCH - Residents are welcome to attend Sunday services at the church in Lorne Street, Kidderminster.

The Holy Communion morning service at 11am and evening service at 6.30pm will be led by Rev Jack Bentham. People are welcome to stay for a free cuppa and a chat after the morning service.

Other activities during the school term at the Church include Boys Brigade on Monday at 6pm, Little Stars (Mums and Tots) on Tuesday between 10am and noon and Girls Brigade on Thursday at 6pm.

CIVIC SOCIETY - The AGM will be held at 7.30pm tomorrow at Kidderminster Library.

The speaker after the meeting will be Jackie Roberts, newly appointed Kidderminster town centre manager. Members and guests welcome.

HABBERLEY WI - President Mrs Pam Plant congratulated Mrs Greta Mitchell and Mrs Delia Lowey for attending after hip operations. Names were taken for the Mad Hatters tea party at Great Witley and the summer outing to Spetchley Park.

The group meeting on March 27 was hosted by Habberley. The group bursary will go to Cookley WI. Committee members provided entertainment.

Names were taken for this month's litter pick.

The report on the annual council meeting was given by Mrs Sheila Grant.

The speaker, Mr Robert Barber, gave an illustrated talk on old Kidderminster.

Competition winners were Brenda Benbow and Shirley Rowsell.

At the next meeting on May 8 at 7.30pm at St John's Church hall, resolutions will be discussed and there will be a quiz.
