FLORAL ART CLUB - NAFAS chairman Sheila Hand was the first guest demonstrator for 2008 and her title was "from winter to spring".

A large piece of driftwood was the background for white flowers and soft foliage representing winter and red carnations and roses for valentine took the audience into spring. An abundance of daffodils and purple iris was followed by two arrangements containing pink gerbera, lilies and carnations to for a touch of summer.

A picture frame and statue contained foliage with soft new blossom to pick up the white of the statue, and the final arrangement was contained in a black pot holding yellow spider chrysanths and yellow sprays chrysanths.

Competition winners were: Margaret Cook in the open section, Mavis Jenkins first and Ann Leake second in intermediate and Connie Jones first in novice. Beth Jones won flower of the month.

The next meeting is on Monday, April 28 at the Social Day Centre, New Street. Demonstrator Lesley Cole's subject is garage treasure'. The members' competition is by candlelight'. Doors open at 6.30pm for 7.30pm. Visitors welcome.

CORNERSTONE FAMILY CHURCH - Family worship is on 10.30am on Sundays and prayer meetings are held on Tuesdays at 7.30pm and Fridays at 7am. House groups are held every Thursday at 7.30pm.
