MILTON HALL BAPTIST CHURCH - Residents are welcome to attend Sunday services at the church, in Lorne Street.

The morning brigade service at 11am will be led by Ray Lewis. People can stay for a free cuppa and a chat after the service. The evening service at 6.30pm will be led by Rita Hardiman.

During the week other activities at the church include Boys Brigade who meet on Monday at 6pm, Little Stars (Mums and Tots) on Tuesday between 10am and noon and Girls Brigade on Thursday at 6pm.

METHODIST CHURCHES - Sunday services are as follows. Trinity Methodist Church, Churchfields, Kidderminster at 10.30am, led by Rev Mary Austin. There will be no evening service, but a Circuit Service will be held at Bewdley Methodist Church at 3pm, led by Rev. Pam Garrud. There is an informal lunchtime service at Trinity every Thursday at 12.30pm.

Broadwaters Methodist Church at 10.30am, led by Thelma Parker. Cookley Methodist Church (worshipping at St Peter's Church) at 11am, led by Janet Murray.

Foley Park Methodist Church at 10.30am, with Holy Communion, led by Rev Pam Garrud. There will be no evening service, but a Circuit Service will be held at Bewdley Methodist Church at 3pm, led by Rev Pam Garrud.

TUESDAY MORNING CLUB - The February meeting was held at Habberley.The speaker was Mr C Hadwell who gave a tallk on Faberge eggs showing slides and giving a talk about their history.

At the March meeting at St Ambrose Hall, members gave accounts of their holidays and afterwards went for a meal at The Dog in Harvington.

The meeting on April 8 was cancelled so members could attend the funeral of Zilpha Strupinski. Zilpha was a much valued member of the Townswomens Guild. She was a member for 20 years and served on both committees .

At the next meeting on May 13 at St Ambrose Hall at 10.15am, the the speaker will be Mr E Shaw on a trip to India. Call 01562 751248 for more details.

CLASSICAL MUSIC SOCIETY - Bob Polfreman told the story of "Papa Haydn", with a potted biography of one of the world's most prolific composers, Joseph Haydn. Haydn learned a great deal from the composer Nicola Porpora, and members heard part of a recording of Porpora's cello concerto. This was followed by the final movement of a cello concerto by Haydn, the manuscript of which was lost for more than 200 years.

The first half of the programme ended with Haydn's opus 1 no 5 string quartet, and his last string quartet, opus 76.

Haydn wrote his first opera when aged 19, and also wrote four oratorios, the most famous being The Creation from which an excerpt was played. The programme ended with Haydn's first and last symphonies, both composed in the key of D major, some 40 years apart.

Former member Tony Baker will present Out and About', a programme of recorded music, on Friday, May 9.

This will be held at Holy Innocents community centre, Kidderminster, starting at 7.30pm. Visitors welcome. For details, contact vice-chairman Von Stewart on 01562 755990.

ST PETER'S CHURCH, BIRCHEN COPPICE, AND ST JOHN'S CHURCH - Holy Communion at St John's Church at 9.30am on Sunday and choral evensong at 6.30pm on Sunday at St John's Church. Holy Communion at Holy Innocents Church at 9.30am on Sunday and parish Communion at St Peter's on Sunday at 11am.

CYCLING CLUB - There are two rides this Sunday. The A ride starts at 8.30am and goes over The Wrekin. The C ride starts at 9.30am and is a half day ride to The Waseley Hills and Clent. Both rides leave from The Green, Blakebrook, opposite the hospital. All cyclists will be welcome and should bring a packed lunch for the A ride.

On Wednesday evening there is a ride to The Old New Inn at Pound Green. The ride leaves The Green at 7pm. His subject was the changing trends in gardening since 1945', starting with vegetable plots and hen houses in the early days, through rosebeds and conifers, garden ponds and decking, to present-day low maintenance.

The lunch venue for May is the Running Horse', Long Bank, Bewdley. Meet at noon on Tuesday.

Heather Flack is the speaker at the may meeting on Tuesday, May 20 at 2pm at Trinity Church Centre and her talk is on the restoration and research of an historic building in Kings Norton. For more details, please contact 01299 877989.
