CLASSICAL MUSIC SOCIETY - Tony Baker presented a programme of recorded music under the heading "Out and About". He began with 18th century composers, Michael Haydn and Johann Christian Bach, featuring the latter's Sextet for oboe, violin, cello, two horns and forte piano.

WI - Members joined Wolverley WI for the May meeting held at Wolverley Memorial Hall. President Mrs Jeanne Round congratulated Wolverley WI on its 90th birthday and the institute was presented with a card made by member, Mrs Jean Keeble.

TG - At the April meeting Mrs E Tasker gave a talk about the Wyre Forest Talking Newspaper. The day out to Tetbury was enjoyed by all, and names were taken for future theatre trips. The new TG reading circle will meet on the third Monday of each month at Bewdley Library at 2.30pm.

CYCLING CLUB - There are two rides this Sunday. Both rides go to Meriden, near Solihull, for the annual cyclists service and tea. The A ride starts at 8am and the B ride starts at 9am and is car assisted. The rides leave from The Green, Blakebrook, opposite the hospital. All cyclists will be welcome and should bring a packed lunch.

LOCAL HISTORY SOCIETY - The next talk in the calendar will be given by Pauline Annis on The Baldwins, the well-known industrial Worcestershire family that began to assume prominence in the iron foundry business in the 1780s and, a century and a half later, produced a Prime Minister. Mrs Annis will illustrate her talk with photographs from the family album.

BEWDLEY BRIDGE CLUB - The result of the pairs competition on May 7 was: first Peter Edwards and Tony Norgrove with 56.88 per cent, second Liz Potter and Monica Parker with 55.82 per cent, third Liliane Wright and Nigel Oldnall with 55.29 per cent.
