A RAIDER smashed two windows to steal a handbag - containing £600 worth of items - from the car of a mother as she walked with her toddler in a Kidderminster park.
The thief targeted the Peugeot 206 in Brinton Park, Sutton Road, between 9am and 9.30am on Wednesday.
When the victim, who is in her 20s, returned she witnessed the man smashing the passenger and driver's windows with a brick and taking the bag, which was hidden under a seat.
It contained a purse, debit card, bank book and two white gold rings.
The offender was described as white, in his mid 20s, with dark curly hair, with tattoos on both of his arms. He was wearing a white t-shirt, dark coloured jeans and rode off on an old-style mountain bike.
Kidderminster Police's crime reduction officer, PC Ian White, said: "We are currently seeing a spate of thefts of handbags from cars while people are out walking in North Worcestershire. It is best to leave purses and bags at home, or to take them with them.
"It is vital not to arrive on the car park and then hide valuables in the boot, glovebox or under the seat as thieves may be watching."
Witnesses or anyone with information should contact Kidderminster Police on 08457 444888 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
