STOURPORT Town Council tonight voted unanimously in favour of retired businessman, James Parish, becoming new mayor.
Mayor Parish has taken over from councillor Mike Salter as mayor for 2008-9. His wife Kath has become mayoress in place of June Salter, Mr Salter's wife.
The retiring mayor and mayoress received a round of applause from the council and Mayor Parish thanked councillor Salter for his "guidance".
John Holden was also unanimously voted deputy mayor.
