Free testing for learning difficulties
A SPECIAL school opening day is offering free and cut-price testing for anyone who feels they may have dyslexia or a learning difficulty.
Staff at the New Elizabethan School in Hartlebury want to promote their school as a centre for people with a range of learning difficulties.
Nicola Jones, vice principal, said: "We are hoping to reach out to parents whose children may not be performing as well as they would expect at school, or for those whose perhaps co-ordination maybe of concern."
She added: "Perhaps there child may be disruptive in class or labelled as badly behaved, it may simply be a case of frustration through a learning concern."
She explained they were interested in attracting children aged from five to 15 but would also like to hear from adults.
The school will be offering 40 free Ace tests to assess individual strengths and weaknesses and 20 free dyslexia screening tests to the first people to phone and reserve their place at the school in Quarry Bank.
After that bookings for these tests will cost £5. From a specialist appointment they would normally cost about £400.
Extra days will be put on at the same price for those who cannot make it on Saturday, May 17, from 11am to 3pm.
There will also be advice about teaching methods and treatment for anyone who discovers a learning difficulty.
Places should be reserved by contacting the school on 01299 250258.
