THE father of a stone-throwing youth who smashed a window at a Kidderminster couple's home several weeks ago finally supplied a replacement double glazed unit after the story was highlighted in yesterday's Shuttle/Times & News.
Angie and Robert Gibbs had endured six weeks of frustration waiting for the father to fulfil his promise to replace the lounge window at their Cathedral Avenue home.
Mrs Gibbs, a 47-year-old housewife, had also felt let down by the police, claiming they had offered no help or advice and that the officer involved in the case had been difficult to get hold of.
Shortly after yesterday's Shuttle hit the streets, the father of the 14-year-old boy, who received a police reprimand for breaking the window, delivered the replacement but declined to fit it himself.
Mr Gibbs, 59, who has some DIY knowledge, fitted the unit the same evening.
"I am pleased that it has been sorted out in that we have not ended up out of pocket," said Mrs Gibbs. "Fortunately, my husband was able to fit it himself.
"I just wish people had kept their word when they said they were going to do things. If they had done that, it would not have gone this far."
Mrs Gibbs has written a letter of complaint to the police and is awaiting a reply.
