DRIVERS are being warned to always lock their vehicles.
Police are concerned that owners are making it easy for thieves by leaving doors unlocked or windows and sunroofs open, often with valuables such as sat navs, CDs and sunglasses inside.
DC Lloyd Davies, of Kidderminster CID, said: "We know people are leaving vehicles unsecured and that some thieves don't even bother breaking in - they will just try a few door handles until they find one which is unlocked.
"Many of these vehicles contain valuables hidden under the seat or in the glovebox, which are the first places the offender will look.
"Vehicle crime is relatively rare within West Mercia and many incidents which do happen are opportunistic and could have been prevented.
"Vehicles need to be locked and windows and sunroof closed when they are left unattended, no matter how briefly."
