Mindless vandals wreck bench

The smashed bench in Cleobury Road, Bewdley. The smashed bench in Cleobury Road, Bewdley.

IT was so sad to see this bench in bits in Cleobury Road, Bewdley, on New Year’s Day.

My husband and I walk Cleobury Road most days and pass numerous people using it, including the elderly, men of the road and young lovers.

This bench is halfway up a steep climb, so to see it vandalised for no reason other than a bit of fun is just mindless.

Wouldn’t it be great if those who did it had second thoughts and came back and made it whole again?

What a happier world it would be?

As Sandra stated this is mindless and shows the problems that society has to cope with nowadays - police officers on the street at times which were maybe less social would be a good start as if the local mindless few thought they maybe caught by the local bobby they may think twice before causing such an act of wanton destruction.

I too had taken a photo of this vandalised bench in order to report it to the District Council who own it. It has now been removed and I hope the District Council will replace it. As Sandra says the bench is well used by the elderly and the school children on their was home.
