I READ with interest last week’s article on plans for Stourport (Museum to be part of canalside gateway).
This will be a wonderful opportunity for Stourport and the investment is just what the town needs to support the historic basin and its surroundings.
However, your article does not refer to the eyesore of the funfair currently blocking the views of the basin and the new development. If the development wants to raise the profile of the basin and its heritage and subsequently this area of the town, the only issue standing in its way is the funfair.
It doesn’t attract the type of people who appreciate the basin and does not bring money into the town for restaurants or shopping as their only spending involves the funfair and the fish and chip shops.
The people I speak to in Stourport certainly do not want the funfair to remain and I would welcome a view on the future plans for this issue.
