THIS is an open letter to the local politicians and residents that are opposed to the Navitus Bay Windfarm.

I’m sure every one of you is tired of the relentless storms and floods experienced in recent weeks therefore it seems logical that you’d want everything possible to be done to reduce the risk of any re-occurrence.

The scientific consensus is that climate change is the main cause of extreme weather events and that everyone needs to take action to reduce carbon levels in the atmosphere.

Investment in renewables is one thing we can and should be doing. The Navitus Bay proposal isn’t the total answer, but it is part of the solution.

Please think again about why you’re opposed to Navitus, if it’s the negative effect on tourism or wildlife then you should be equally concerned about climate change as this will have a far worse negative effect by causing rising sea levels and extreme weather events.

If it’s the view, on many days sea mist will hide them. In other areas where there has been concern prior to construction these concerns have proved unfounded and the majority of people like them and they are now seen as an attraction.

So please politicians, MPs, councillors, elected or prospective, stop playing politics, take some moral responsibility and start to support measures to reduce carbon before it’s too late. To those individuals that are opposing this please look hard at the consequences of ignoring climate change and join the very large number of local people that care about the generations to come and fully support on-shore & off-shore wind farms.

To all those many local residents that do support this ‘thank you’ for saying ‘Yes to Wind’.
