ONCE again our councillors have made an-ill-thought out decision. The closure of the Kidderminster civic amenity at Hoo Brook has meant that all Kidderminster residents have to use the Stourport recycling site.

Now this is a site I do my best to avoid as I found in the past it was too overcrowded and chaotic at the best of times.

However, in my naivety I thought that it would have been rearranged to cope with the extra workload placed on it. Again I was far too optimistic.

The site has remained unchanged and the queues to make use of it are horrendous. Recently I have had to pay two visits there. Both times I chose what I thought would be a slack time.

On both occasions the queue to enter the site went back onto the dual carriageway in both directions. Disturbingly, the workers at the site appeared to have no concern at all.

They seemed to deliberately be avoiding making any effort to ease the situation and when I asked one of them about the difficulties I was ignored and he just walked off.

I fear two consequences as a result of this situation. The first is that the queues on the Stourport Road will cause an accident. The second is that more irresponsible people will give up and end up fly-tipping the rubbish, creating more expense for the council in having to clear it up.

It is time that the council took swift remedial action.
