I WOULD be interested to know what plans Kidderminster will be taking to commemorate the First World War soldiers and civilians during 1914-19.
My grandfather's cousin Joseph Francis Kimberlee is remembered on the memorial outside St Mary's Church. My great great great grandfather was a carpet weaver, as were some of his forbears. Then one brother, my great great grandfather, left for Warwickshire (Coleshill) while the second brother stayed in Kidderminster.
His grandson, Athelston Kimberlee was involved in carpet design and liaised between Kidderminster and Toronto Carpets in Canada from1928-1930.
I have visited Kidderminster's new Carpet Museum which is a tribute to those who worked in the carpet industry and for all of us who remember 'Kidderminster Carpets for the World'.
