AT our recent PACT meeting, the future of the Hoo Brook Recycling Centre was the main topic. The chairman read out a letter finally received from County Hall, but it contained no re-assurance as to the future of this vital facility.
Nor did county councillor Nathan Desmond put any minds at rest, commenting that he thought that Hoo Brook was not necessarily the right place.
It now appears the site will be closed until the end of August and its future will be the subject of some vague “consultation” process, probably conducted online.
The Stourport Road facility, meanwhile, groans under the increased demand and several dangerous traffic manoeuvres have been witnessed amongst frustrated and confused drivers.
It appears that the county council is making things up as it goes along, rather than having a well-thought-out waste strategy. If this were France, we would be taking our rubbish to the steps of County Hall in protest.
