I ATTENDED the recent Aggborough and Spennells PACT meeting where the feeling was overwhelmingly for the reopening of the Hoo Brook tip.

County councillor Nathan Desmond attended and admitted that the way in which the county had handled the situation was poor at best. He was unable to give us any answers on the future plans for the site but said several options were being considered about its future.

He did make the comment that he felt the site was in the wrong location – but where would he like to put? In the town centre?

When questioned about a public consultation over the site, he said he felt an online one would take place but felt a public meeting should also be held at the town hall for all residents to have their say – but he could not confirm this as it was not his decision.

It's about time the county council were open and honest and gave a statement about the plans for the site and gave the public a chance to give their opinions. Will they commit to this?
