CONFESSION is good for the soul, so here goes; I am a fan of Manchester United!

Now of course if you look at the season we have just had, there is no way you can accuse me of being a glory supporter, and yet think of earlier times in the club’s history!

Think of the ‘Busby Babes’ of the 1950s, George Best in the 1960s (like myself, a Northern Ireland lad, unlike myself a footballing genius!) and of course that sublime season in 1999 when we won the Treble.

I wonder if this is a fair reflection of our lives. Sometimes we feel like champions, sometimes we feel like we are going down with little chance of coming up again anytime soon.

In one of the most well known passages of the Bible, Psalm 23 (Google it and read it if you don’t know it!), we hear that God promises to be with us both in good times and in bad times.

Whether we are on top of the world or whether the world is on top of us, His love and care for us never fails.

And that love is not just for those nice religious types who go to church regularly every Sunday. God’s love is offered to us all.
